This is the latest piece in my rock garden collection. It consists of 3 separate rocks that come together to create a much larger piece. Each stone has its own mesh carefully crocheted around it with a flower, or 3, sewn to it. You can put them together as I designed them or keep them separate. It's up to you. Whatever. Art is meant to be as it wants to be in the world. My thoughts... the stones fit so nicely they seem like they wanted to be together.

All my flower designs, including these, develop out of previous attempts until I feel they are just right. I play around with the colours a bit and the layout to know how many additional leaves to add. Once decided, I crochet around the rock to create a mesh and sew the flowers and leaves snuggly into place. These are made of two things, stones and thread. Nothing more.

To give you an idea of the size, this final piece with all 3 stones together is about 7 inches (10 cm) across from leaf tip to leaf tip and 6 inches wide (11.5 cm) from leaf tip to leaf tip. I know that's a little repetitive but it's kinda hard to measure these...

The orange flower stone measures about 3 inches (8 cm) by 2 1/2 inches (6 cm). The purple flower stone is 3 inches (8 cm) at its widest 3 1/2 inches (9 cm) at its longest. The multi-flower stone is approximately 4 1/2 inches (11 cm) by 3 3/4 (9.5 cm).

I hand pick the stones from the banks of the Wapiti River in Northern Alberta, Canada. Close to Grande Prairie, Alberta but far enough away to avoid too many river boats and other wandering folks. I'm far enough off the beaten path I need to carry bear spray (just in case...). As a matter of fact, often times I am the only one I see for the entire afternoon when out by my "Thought Rock" (see photo above). I can honestly say, there is nothing about the process of creating these pieces that I dislike. And there's not that many things that appear in your life as pure joy. I'm truly blessed to be able to create these.

And now back to the business of art...shipping costs are included. If you have any questions about anything feel free to ask. I don't generally take custom orders any more but if the mood strikes and you're awesomely cool to work with, I may be persuaded.

Cheers!
