This particular piece was my very first attempt at crocheting around the stone and adding a flower and leaf. The item itself consists of 1 simple, yet elegant, daisy flower and a single dark leaf. All my flower designs develop out of previous attempts until I feel they are just right. I play around with the colours a bit and the layout to know how many additional leaves to add. Once decided, I crochet around the rock to create a mesh and sew the flowers and leaves snuggly into place.

To give you an idea of the size, this piece is about 4 inches (10 cm) across from rock edge to petal tip and 4 1/2 inches wide (11.5 cm) from petal to leaf tip. The stone itself is somewhat smaller than the flower.

This is another piece in my ongoing art project I've wanted to create for a very long time. I decided to take the plunge and see where the inspiration would take me.

Yes, these may have started out as a humble river stones and various shades of cotton thread, but they turn into what I think of as delightful mini-rock gardens.

I hand pick the stones from the banks of the Wapiti River in Northern Alberta, Canada. Close to Grande Prairie, Alberta but far enough away to avoid too many river boats and other wandering folks. I'm far enough off the beaten path I need to carry bear spray (just in case...). As a matter of fact, often times I am the only one I see for the entire afternoon when out by my "Thought Rock" (see photo above). I can honestly say, there is nothing about the process of creating these pieces that I dislike. And there's not that many things that appear in your life as pure joy. I'm truly blessed to be able to create these.

And now back to the business of art...shipping costs are included. If you have any questions about anything feel free to ask. I don't generally take custom orders any more but if the mood strikes and you're awesomely cool to work with, I may be persuaded. I don't take kindly to demanding patrons. TBH you're just not worth the disharmony and unease you cause.
